Castiglioni, Archille

Achille Castiglioni, the youngest Castiglioni brother, was born in Milan in 1918. He graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1944, after which he joined his brothers’ design firm. In 1952, Livio left the company, and when Pier Giacomo died in 1968, Achille closed down the business. From 1970 to 1977, he worked as a professor of industrial design and until 1980 as a professor of interior architecture and design at the Politecnico di Torino. From 1981 to 1986, he was a professor of interior design at the Politecnico di Milano and later a professor of industrial design. In addition to working for the family business’s clients, including Kartell, Zanotta, Brionvega, Bernini, Siemens, Knoll, Poggi, Lancia, Ideal Standard, and Bonacina, Achille also worked for Flos and Alessi. He won numerous awards, including eight Compasso d’Oro. Achille died in 2002 at the age of 84.

BeBoB was founded with a focus on recycling and started as a foundation, not profit-based.
For almost 40 years, it has specialised in collecting and selling midcentury design, focussing on the right matches more than how to get the best profit.
BeBoB charges reasonable prices for vintage and collector’s items.

Vintage Prices are approximately 35% to 65% of the new-to-order price, if items are still new in production. If not anymore in production they become collectibles.
Collectibles are also the original pieces from the design period of the items, which are still in production and are more expensive, but often a good investment out of scarcity.
